ADVENT SERMON SERIES

Sunday Worship Services: 9am, 11am & 5:30pm

The Return of the King

Several weeks ago, we elected a new President. In January he will take up office, and several weeks after that we will begin the next election cycle! Every four years we do the same thing. Power is fleeting. Control is illusory. Those who hold elected office come and go. But the King never changes. Jesus sits astride the throne of heaven and, in his sovereign love, reigns over the earth. One day he will bring history to its ultimate goal: He will return in glory, judge the living and the dead, and establish his kingdom forever. We will be a part of that. What difference does this make to how we live our lives? What does it look like to live in light of the return of the King? Join us in late November and December to find out.

  • November 24 – A Life of Longing
  • December 1 – A Life of Hope
  • December 8 – A Life of Peace
  • December 15 – A Life of Joy at 9 am & 11am / Lessons & Carols at 5:30pm
  • December 22 – Lessons & Carols at 9 am & 11am / A Life of Joy at 5:30pm

RECENT SERMONS AND TALKS

Rev. Dr. John Yates III - October 23, 2022

Sermon: Joy, Peace and the Presence of God

Scripture References: Philippians 4:4-23

From Series: "To Live Is Christ: Paul's Letter to the Philippians"

Paul wrote to the Philippians from prison, most likely in Rome. He was on trial and his life was at stake, but the letter sparkles with joy as he encourages and instructs his friends. Paul writes with the wisdom of a man who knows what matters most and the contentment of a man whose trust in Jesus is unwavering. He is hopeful and free from anxiety. Join us this fall as we reflect on this profound letter and learn, with Paul, that "to live is Christ."
