Guy/Girl Nights

Dear Parents,

I’d like to give you some lead time about a student ministry guy/girl night discussion that we will facilitate on March 8.

Pornography and body image are two realities that students are exposed to frequently in this technologically saturated world. To help students think biblically and accurately about these topics, we are going to have a guys/girls night where we separate students and leaders based on sex with the guys discussing pornography and the girls discussing body image. After the concurrent main talks to each gender, we will further break apart middle and high school students based on age/gender. I will lead the discussion on pornography and Izzy will lead the discussion on body image in different rooms.

At Holy Trinity, we firmly believe the family is the primary location for discipleship and the front lines for discussion on these issues and hope you have been or will begin having these conversations with your son or daughter-as studies show that students are exposed to these topics as early as 4th or 5th grade.

To support these family discussions, the student ministry would like to offer a space for a group discussion on these topics and offer some biblical insights/responses. The resources that we will be drawing heavily from for these topics are linked (boys here and girls here) and this content will inform those respective discussions. We are sharing these resources to provide you with the content to decide if you’d like your student to attend these nights.

If you do not want your students to hear about these topics there are two options for the night: 1) Have your son or daughter stay home from youth group on March 8 or 2) Attend the alternate youth gathering that night where students will just go out for ice cream.

We are asking for written confirmation that you are ok with your students attending because we do not want to go against any of your wishes. Feel free to copy and send this to me: “Caleb… I read your note about March 8 and _____ will be there.”
