Event Details
Our First Communion class offers an opportunity to hear the gospel and explore the meaning of Holy Communion (also known as the Eucharist or the Lord’s Table.) This optional class is for baptized children grades kindergarten and up who want to understand more about this meal.
Throughout the class, some foundational theology about baptism as well as basic principles of Anglicanism will be introduced. Parent participation will be required for a portion of the classes. The class will take place over 5 weeks, February 22 through March 22, in between the services (10:15am-10:50 am). The main content for each class will start promptly at 10:15am. During the first class (February 22), there will be a parent meeting. On the last Sunday of class (March 22), there will be two components: a seal ceremony celebrating their completion of the class that will take place at 10:15am, and the last component after the 11am service with lunch and a Communion “practice” run before they take communion for the first time on Palm Sunday, March 29.
Rachel Bittler, Neville Sinclair, and Susan Josephson are partnering to offer this year’s First Communion class. At any time feel free to email Rachel Bittler at rbittler@htcraleigh.org with any questions. The deadline to register is Monday, February 16.
