For the Christian death has been defeated and robbed of its corrupting sting, but what does the promise of eternal life mean? Is this promise extended to all who believe or is it restricted somehow to the elect? What is heaven and what can we say about it?
Over the course of our five-week study led by Dr. Gil Greggs, Hope, Heaven, and Eternal Life: The Christian View of What Is Promised to Us, we will look closely at how the Bible instructs us about the proclamation that death has been defeated and life eternal has taken the place of death. The study will take us to well-known biblical passages like
I Corinthians 13 and 15, select psalms, visions of heaven drawn from Christian artists like Heironymous Bosch, Fra Angelico, Raphael, Michaelangelo, Rembrandt, and William Blake, as well as musical passages from Bach, Mozart, Vivaldi, Handel, and Hayden that seem to capture the divine. Handel, for example, always claimed that his composition, The Messiah, was not written by him but came to him like a vision from heaven.
Please join us starting Tuesday, February 17 for this delightful study of heaven and the life there that is already won for us.
