Seeking God in the Psalms

We think of the Psalms as a collection of prayers, but they’re so much more than this.  Not only do they show us how to pray to God they teach us how to live in his world.  At the heart of what they teach is that a life well-lived is a life of seeking God – seeking his presence, seeking his praise, seeking his consolation, and seeking an explanation when we are overwhelmed or confused by life.  As the summer draws to a close and we prepare for the rhythms of a new school year we are going to seek the Lord together in the psalms, asking for wisdom while learning to pray.

RECENT SERMONS AND TALKS

Rev. Caleb Burr - August 11, 2024

Sermon: The Food that Endures

Scripture References: John 6:22-35

From Series: "A New Moses"

What does Moses have to do with Jesus? A lot, actually! Even though Moses lived 1,300 years before Jesus and never stepped foot in the Promised Land, his life and ministry give us a powerful foreshadowing of Jesus. Nowhere do we see this more clearly than in John 6. In this long, sometimes odd, deeply challenging chapter, Moses hovers in the background as a forerunner of Jesus and as a key to understanding his life and ministry. We’ve spent June and July learning about Moses and The Story of God in Exodus; join us now in August as we see Jesus in a new light as the prophet who’s even greater than Moses.
