Why Church? God’s Purpose for His People

Life during the pandemic has raised lots of questions about the Church, such as, “Can we stay home, sip coffee, watch the Sunday service and call it “worship?” During this same season, a number of scandals have rocked the Church – from sexual misconduct to the abuse of power by clergy. What’s going on? Has the Church lost its way? Have we forgotten who we are or what it means to be God’s people? Perhaps the most important question we should ask is simply, “Why Church?” Join us this fall as we explore who we are, why we’re here and how God wants us to live together.

Sermon: The Doubt of the Disillusioned: When Faith Doesn’t Work

Scripture References: John 21:24-31

From Series: "Easter Season"

After Jesus rose from the dead, he didn’t immediately return to heaven. The book of Acts tells us that over the course of 40 days, he appeared to his disciples in order to tell them about the kingdom of God. What happened when they met? What did Jesus say? And what do these brief encounters tell us about our own encounter with the risen Jesus today?
