Seeking God in the Psalms

We think of the Psalms as a collection of prayers, but they’re so much more than this.  Not only do they show us how to pray to God they teach us how to live in his world.  At the heart of what they teach is that a life well-lived is a life of seeking God – seeking his presence, seeking his praise, seeking his consolation, and seeking an explanation when we are overwhelmed or confused by life.  As the summer draws to a close and we prepare for the rhythms of a new school year we are going to seek the Lord together in the psalms, asking for wisdom while learning to pray.

  • August 16: Psalm 84
  • August 23: Psalm 73
  • August 30: Psalm 147
  • September 6: Psalm 96

Sermon: Anxiety in our Age

Scripture References: Luke 12:22-34

From Series: "Living in Fear: Godly Fear in an Anxious Age"

Fear is one of the strongest human emotions. It is hard to handle and impossible to contain. From global terrorism to national elections, we live in a world awash with fear leaving us anxious and unsettled. But what if fear isn’t all bad? What if it’s necessary for a full and joyful life? What if fear really is “the beginning of wisdom,” as the Proverbs say? During the season of Lent we will explore fear in all its facets as we consider what the Bible has to say and how we are meant to live in fear.
