Sermon Series: Prepare the Way

Nov. 2 through Dec. 14

This year we’re getting into the Christmas spirit a little bit early! In the lead-up to the birth of Jesus, the opening chapters of the gospels tell us about visiting angels, Mary, Joseph, and John the Baptist. They’re familiar scenes, but do we know them as well as we think we do? Do we understand the story before the Christmas story that sets the stage and prepares the way for Jesus? Sometimes it’s the most familiar stories that hide the deepest treasures. Join us in November and December as we rediscover them together.

  • Nov. 2 – Matthew 1:1-17
  • Nov. 9 – Matthew 1:18-25
  • Nov. 16 –  Luke 1:5-25
  • Nov 23 – Luke 1:26-38
  • Dec. 7 – Luke 1:57-80
  • Dec. 14 – John 1:1-9(18)
  • Dec. 21 – Lessons & Carols

Confessions of Augustine: Lecture 2

Lecture 2, Book 1: Augustine's Problems. In book one, Augustine begins to describe universal human problems: the challenge of finite beings talking about an infinite God, the human proclivity to turn inward on ourselves, and the worldly aims that are ingrained in us from an early age. Yet it is by first facing these problems, that we can begin to be cured.
