Our BlogHeart's Cry Panama Mission Trip 2023

Earlier this month, a group from Holy Trinity traveled to Panama to serve with Heart’s Cry Children’s Ministry. Heart’s Cry is an incredible faith-based organization that advocates for the orphaned and abandoned children of Panama. Casa Providencia, an orphanage run and managed by Heart’s Cry, was the first orphanage for special needs children established in Panama. It was an incredible trip that significantly impacted all their lives!

On the first afternoon in the country, Matt and Misty Hedspeth, who founded Heart’s Cry, told them amazing stories of how God provided for them as they pursued their calling to care for children in Panama. They have continually witnessed the transformational and healing power of the Holy Spirit as children with physical and intellectual disabilities are loved and cared for at Casa Providencia.

Upon arriving at Casa Providencia for the first time on Monday, many in the group were nervous about the language barrier and how they would communicate with and love the children well. Throughout the week, they learned that God’s love is greater than any language barrier. They were able to share and receive God’s love, grace, and peace from the children and staff in ways we could have never anticipated. It was such a blessing for them to walk alongside the caregivers and play, do crafts, sing songs, and go on field trips with the children. They were also able to help with the demolition and early stages of an expansion project that will allow Casa Providencia to care for over 50 children.

After saying a tearful goodbyes to the children on Friday afternoon, the Holy Trinity group returned on Saturday with a greater understanding of how God is at work in Panama, how the Holy Spirit is continually working in miraculous ways, and how they expect to see God provide for and heal His people. Please join us in praying for Matt and Misty and their four children, the children in Panama, the children at Casa Providencia, and the dedicated caregivers who love them so well every day.
