MORNING SERVICE SERMON SERIES

LIVING IN FEAR: GODLY FEAR IN AN ANXIOUS AGE

Fear is one of the strongest human emotions.  It is hard to handle and impossible to contain.  From global terrorism to national elections, we live in a world awash with fear leaving us anxious and unsettled.  But what if fear isn’t all bad?  What if it’s necessary for a full and joyful life?  What if fear really is “the beginning of wisdom,” as the Proverbs say?  During the season of Lent we will explore fear in all its facets as we consider what the Bible has to say and how we are meant to live in fear.

  • February 18 – Matthew 28:16-20
  • February 25 – Luke 1:39-56

SONGS FOR THE WEARY SOUL: PSALMS FOR LIFE

The Psalms are an inexhaustible, inspired resource for the Christian Church in every age. Perhaps more than any other part of the scriptures, it is the Psalms that bring the emotions of human living into the presence of the living God. The lyrics of these songs have provided some of the greatest comfort for God’s struggling people throughout the centuries. Join us as we lift our eyes to the Lord, our refuge, in all his greatness and discover the glorious certainties of his plan and purpose for his people.

Sermon: The Mystery of Godliness

Scripture References: 1 Timothy 3:14-16

From Series: "Life in the Spirit "

Before he left his disciples Jesus promised to send them the Holy Spirit. When he made that promise they could not have foreseen the dramatic events that would unfold on Pentecost! Things aren’t quite as dramatic today, but Jesus’s promise to the disciples holds true for us. When we put our faith in Jesus he gives us his Spirit. But who exactly is the Holy Spirit and what does life “in the Spirit” look like? We’ll be asking these questions and others over three weeks in April as we take a look at one of the most incredible chapters in the whole New Testament: Romans 8.
