This year we’re getting into the Christmas spirit a little bit early! In the lead-up to the birth of Jesus, the opening chapters of the gospels tell us about visiting angels, Mary, Joseph, and John the Baptist. If you were asked to describe the character of God, what would you say? Most of us would begin by saying that God is loving, holy, righteous, and just. But what about generous? Generosity is the joyful, extravagant, sacrificial giving of one’s self for another. Sounds a lot like God, doesn’t it? The most generous act in the history of the world is the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus on our behalf. True generosity, like this, is infectious: God gives himself to us and we give ourselves to him in return: joyfully, extravagantly, and sacrificially. That is the way the gospel works. But what does it look like in action? Join us as we look at 2 Corinthians 8-9 and discover how the generosity of God transforms us into generous people.
