Sermon Series: Built Up and Sent Out

The book of Acts tells the story of the first Christians — built up in Jesus Christ and sent out by the Spirit. What begins as the eyewitness accounts of a few ordinary Jewish fisherman, launches into a movement that changed the world. Thousands of years later the book still compels us to ask: what gave them courage, purpose, and unity? What about their message changed the course of history? And ultimately, what relevance does this have for us today?

Join us this summer as we engage with the first nine chapters of Acts as we see how these chapters shape the foundational character of the Christian identity, as the church is both: built up and sent out.

  • JUNE 29: Acts 4:32-5:16

RECENT SERMONS AND TALKS

Rev. Dr. John Yates III - October 30, 2022

Sermon: Created by God

Scripture References: John 1:1-14

From Series: "How to Be a Human Being"

What does it mean to be human? It’s a question we rarely ask, but one we answer every day in the decisions we make and the lives we lead. We have been taught that we can be whomever we want because at the heart of our humanity is the freedom to choose what it means to be human. Scripture suggests a different approach. According to God’s Word, we are more glorious than we imagine and more broken than we dare to admit. We are also loved in a way that sets us right and opens the door to true humanity. Join us Oct. 30-Nov. 20 as we address the big questions of our day and explore how to be a human being in tune with the God who made us.
